Energy-from-Waste (EfW)

Recycling is always the best option for your waste materials, but some materials there is no recycling options available; we call this residual waste. Now there is a greener disposal option for this waste called Energy-from-waste.

In an aim to divert more waste from landfill Energy-from-Waste has become a popular choice for most businesses around the UK. Companies wanting to achieve high recycling rates and divert all waste from landfill is now possible with our range of recycling services and Energy-from-Waste disposal option that produces green energy from waste.

Energy-from-Waste facility

Energy-from-Waste (EfW) facilities offer a technologically advanced and safe means of commercial waste disposal while also generating clean, renewable energy, reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.

General waste is delivered to these facilities where is sorted for any recyclables then residual waste is transferred to a self-sustaining combustion chamber. The heat from this process boils water, creating steam that drives a turbine generating electricity to power homes and businesses. All gases produced through this process and collected, filtered and cleaned before being released into the atmosphere. There is no greener way to dispose of your general waste.

Biomass

Processed wood such as chipboard, MDF, until recently could only be disposed of by landfill. Wood disposed of in this way will rot over time and produce methane; a gas 22 times more damaging to the environment than CO2.

Biomass is a new and innovative method of disposal which diverts wood from landfill and introduces significant cost savings, by processing the resource to produce Energy-from-Waste. The emissions from the plant are virtually zero and are continuously monitored. Our local biomass plant produces 750 kilowatts, enough to power 1836 homes for a year. By utilising bio-mass we you diverting another waste stream from landfill and placing your waste one step higher on the waste hierarchy.
