As organisations update their IT equipment to keep pace with constantly changing technology, the disposal of redundant computers can cause concern, particularly as it is a legal requirement under the WEEE Directive to have them recycled.

Companies tend to think of paper documents when it comes to confidential waste as the sensitive data is right there in front of them, but with today’s technology more and more companies are moving over to a paperless system where all sensitive data, documents and personal information are all stored on computers. To help manage this over looked confidential data, Select offers an IT equipment destruction service for the secure destruction and recycling of all data on computer hard drives, external hard drives, USB flash drives, DVD’s and CD’s.

To provide safe collection and destruction of your obsolete IT equipment, Select can provide large lockable bulk storage containers that can be placed on your site and collected at a time that suits your requirements. As an alternative we can offer a secure collection where a two-man team will collect all of the IT equipment from within your building and load them onto a secure vehicle for transportation to our facility. All of our confidential waste service operatives are fully trained and CRB checked.

Once your IT equipment reaches our facility the equipment will be destroyed within 24 hours of collection, typically the same day. Witness destruction is also available should your organisation require that level of security.

On completion you will be provided with a Certificate of Destruction which will list serial and model numbers of the items we have collected, we will also guarantee to destroy any hard drives to NATO security shredding standards, thus protecting your business and the environment. It is our policy to recycle all of the waste, but in rare cases where a waste type cannot be recycled we will divert the waste from landfill to a recovery facility that produces energy-from-waste.

Small containers can be provided for devices such as hard drives, usb flash drives, DVD's and CD's. More often we will provide large walk-in containers that store all of your IT equipment in bulk. These lockable external containers can be dropped off at your premises and collected another day at your convenience.
