Some wastes are harmful to human health or to the environment, either immediately or over an extended period of time. These are called hazardous wastes and are defined within the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005. If your organisation produces any amount of hazardous waste you have a 'duty of care' to make sure it's disposed of properly.
Premises that produce more than 200kg of hazardous waste in any 12 month period will need to register with the Environment Agency. If in doubt, we can advise on whether notification is required and if necessary, we can also register your premises for you.
